Save Daryna’s Smile

October 9, 2024

At eighteen, Daryna never smiles with her teeth. Like all teenagers Daryna wants to look her best and feel confident, but dental problems are holding her back.

Daryna, a beautiful young woman who is ashamed of her smile

When Daryna was nine, she and her sister were abandoned by their mom at a railway station. Sometimes she lived in an orphanage. In foster care, she was mistreated, and still has scars from severe burns she suffered during those years.

“Of course, no one provided any care for her,” writes staff member Marta. “Periodically Daryna’s teeth hurt, but no one provided treatment.” Then independent life began, and Daryna had no resources for dental care.

Daryna’s already lost two teeth. Without help, her situation will keep getting worse.

But the story of Daryna’s smile isn’t over yet! We met her during life skills lessons at her trade school, and Marta started taking her to the dentist. She’s supported Daryna during all her frustration and worry.

Daryna still needs more dental care. But you can give her a second chance at a beautiful smile.

Since the war began, the cost of dental care has increased 300%-400%. But it’s still inexpensive compared to U.S. prices. A basic repair is about $50; more complicated procedures cost $150-$200.

Our staff are ready to advocate for our youth at the dentist, and many are in treatment already. But to care for youth with the biggest dental challenges, we need your help!

Will you make a gift to help our youth smile with confidence?

Besides the confidence to smile freely, you’ll also help our youth eat comfortably and decrease their risk of infection and disease.

We’ve had to slow down some dental care because of the wartime costs. But you can make sure orphaned youth and families receive dental help right away!

Daryna is always telling our staff, “What would I do without you?” Thanks to support from friends like you, Daryna isn’t alone with the shame and worry of dental problems. We’re very grateful!

PS: Ministry Director Andrey Pankyeyev says that for a total of $10,000, we can completely treat the dental needs of 50 orphaned youth! Will you provide repairs for one of them?
