Last Bell helps graduate orphans learn to thrive in Zhytomyr, Ukraine. We guide them to lives of hope and purpose while showing them Christ’s love. We begin by providing for basic needs. We engage them in a loving community, offer spiritual and lifestyle mentoring, and then provide vocational development. Our desire is that our youth will stop the vicious orphanage cycle by having their own thriving families. We want them to inspire their culture by becoming people who invest in their own families and communities.

Educational Outreach

Educational Outreach to trade schools is our primary point of connection with recent orphanage graduates coming into the city from all over the region. We offer on-site life skills classes in eight of the Zhytomyr facilities attended by orphanage graduates. Our youth often spend time at our hub in the downtown area, where we also offer legal assistance, help with housing, medical advocacy, counseling, and humanitarian aid.

Stop the Cycle

Our Stop the Cycle program assists orphan-parented families, especially single moms. We offer parenting classes, summer retreats, spiritual mentoring, a childcare co-op, and help with basic needs.

The Restoration Project

Many of our youth inherit uninhabitable property. Helping them thrive involves teaching them to restore their homes alongside Last Bell staff who provide both construction oversight and mentoring. We are developing this area of apprenticeship ministry so the young people who participate will become employable and will participate in restoring their own communities.

Shelter Crisis Housing

Housing and work are the top concerns of most Ukrainian orphans. There are times when our youth need housing while finishing a trade school or college term. There are also times when our youth require emergency housing in order to exit an abusive or exploitative living situation. Last Bell answers these needs through The Shelter, a large three-story house in the heart of Zhytomyr.
